Kitchen Plumbing Services

The kitchen is one of the most heavily used plumbing areas in a home. Faucets, sinks, garbage disposals, dishwashers, refrigerators, water filtration systems, shutoff valves, drains, and water-supply piping all depend on reliable plumbing connections to operate properly.

Steven Bailey Plumbing & Rooter provides professional kitchen plumbing repair, installation, replacement, and troubleshooting throughout San Francisco, Marin County, and San Mateo County. Whether you are dealing with a leaking faucet, clogged kitchen drain, failed garbage disposal, appliance connection, water filtration system, or a larger kitchen plumbing project, we can evaluate the existing plumbing and recommend the appropriate solution.

Complete Kitchen Plumbing Service

Kitchen plumbing problems can range from a minor dripping faucet to a hidden leak that damages cabinetry and flooring.

Because several plumbing systems come together beneath the kitchen sink, the source of a problem is not always obvious. A leak may originate from the faucet, drain assembly, garbage disposal, dishwasher connection, water filter, shutoff valve, supply line, or drainage piping.

Our kitchen plumbing services may include:

  • Kitchen faucet repair and installation
  • Kitchen sink plumbing
  • Garbage disposal installation and repair
  • Kitchen drain cleaning
  • Dishwasher plumbing connections
  • Refrigerator water-line installation
  • Ice maker water lines
  • Reverse osmosis systems
  • Water filtration systems
  • Instant hot water faucet installation
  • Shutoff valve replacement
  • Leak detection and repair
  • Drain and waste piping repairs
  • Water-supply piping repairs
  • Appliance hookups
  • Kitchen plumbing for remodeling projects
  • Gas piping for qualifying kitchen appliances

Kitchen Faucet Repair and Installation

A kitchen faucet is used dozens of times each day, making it one of the hardest-working fixtures in the home.

Common problems include dripping, leaking around the base, reduced flow, loose handles, failed cartridges, damaged pull-down hoses, leaking supply connections, and difficulty controlling temperature.

When the fixture is in good condition and replacement parts are available, repair may be practical. When the faucet is worn, corroded, outdated, or experiencing repeated failures, replacement may provide a better long-term solution.

We install both company-supplied and qualifying customer-supplied kitchen faucets.

Kitchen Sink Plumbing

The plumbing beneath a kitchen sink often contains more components than almost any other cabinet in the home.

Typical installations may include the sink drain, garbage disposal, dishwasher discharge, trap, water shutoff valves, faucet supplies, filtration equipment, reverse osmosis tubing, refrigerator connections, and other accessories.

Leaks underneath a kitchen sink should be addressed promptly. Even a small leak can damage cabinets, flooring, drywall, and nearby finishes over time.

We can diagnose and repair leaking drain connections, traps, supply lines, shutoff valves, disposal connections, and other under-sink plumbing.

Garbage Disposal Installation and Repair

A properly selected garbage disposal can make kitchen cleanup easier and provide years of reliable service.

We install, replace, diagnose, and unjam residential garbage disposals. Steven Bailey Plumbing & Rooter also sells and installs InSinkErator garbage disposals, including 1/2 HP, 3/4 HP, and 1 HP options.

The appropriate disposal depends on household size, frequency of kitchen use, available cabinet space, and the level of grinding performance desired.

Common garbage disposal problems include humming without turning, repeated jams, leakage, unusual noise, motor failure, damaged mounting components, and drainage problems.

When we supply and install the disposal, the installation is backed by our warranty coverage.

Kitchen Drain Cleaning

Kitchen drains are particularly vulnerable to buildup from food residue, grease, soap, oils, and other materials.

A slow kitchen sink may begin as a minor problem but can eventually become a complete blockage.

We provide professional kitchen drain cleaning and can determine whether the stoppage is located near the sink, within the kitchen branch drain, or farther downstream in the drainage system.

Recurring kitchen stoppages may indicate grease accumulation, improper piping, deteriorated drainage, or another condition that deserves further investigation.

Dishwasher Plumbing Connections

Dishwashers depend on several systems working together, including the water supply, drain connection, electrical supply, and appliance itself.

The dishwasher drain is commonly connected through the garbage disposal or another approved drainage arrangement. Improper installation can contribute to leakage, poor drainage, odors, or wastewater returning toward the appliance.

We can install and modify dishwasher plumbing connections when replacing or adding a dishwasher and evaluate existing plumbing that may need repair before a new appliance is connected.

Refrigerator and Ice Maker Water Lines

Modern refrigerators frequently require a dedicated water connection for ice makers and drinking-water dispensers.

A refrigerator water line should be properly connected to the building’s water system using suitable materials and an accessible shutoff valve.

Older refrigerator connections can become brittle, leak, or develop problems at the valve or connection point.

We install and repair refrigerator and ice maker water lines and can replace aging valves or connections when necessary.

Reverse Osmosis Systems

Reverse osmosis systems can provide filtered drinking water directly at the kitchen sink.

A typical under-sink reverse osmosis installation may require a dedicated drinking-water faucet, connection to the cold-water supply, storage or filtration equipment, and a drain connection.

Proper installation is important because several small tubing connections and fittings are typically located inside the sink cabinet.

We install qualifying reverse osmosis systems and can evaluate the available cabinet space, plumbing connections, drainage, and faucet location before installation.

Water Filtration Systems

Kitchen water filtration can range from a dedicated drinking-water filter beneath the sink to larger whole-home filtration systems.

A properly selected filtration system can improve taste, odor, and other water-quality characteristics depending on the type of equipment and filtration media used.

We can install qualifying filtration equipment and help determine how the system should connect to the existing plumbing.

Instant Hot Water Faucets

Instant hot water dispensers provide near-boiling water directly at the kitchen sink for beverages, cooking, and other household uses.

These systems typically include a small under-sink heating tank and a dedicated faucet.

Installation requires appropriate sink or countertop access, water-supply connections, electrical power, and adequate space beneath the sink.

We install qualifying instant hot water systems and can evaluate whether the existing kitchen configuration is suitable for the equipment.

Kitchen Shutoff Valves

Kitchen sink shutoff valves allow individual fixtures and appliances to be isolated without shutting water off to the entire home.

These valves often remain untouched for years and may become corroded, difficult to operate, or unable to completely stop the flow of water.

If older valves are encountered during a faucet, dishwasher, filtration, or appliance installation, replacing them may help improve reliability and make future service easier.

Appliance Hookups

Many kitchen appliances require plumbing connections in addition to electrical or gas service.

Depending on the appliance, this may include water supplies, drains, shutoff valves, flexible connections, or gas piping.

We provide plumbing hookups for qualifying kitchen appliances and verify that the surrounding plumbing is appropriate for the installation before connecting new equipment.

Gas Piping for Kitchen Appliances

Gas ranges, cooktops, and other qualifying appliances require a properly sized and installed gas supply.

Gas piping should be appropriately sized, supported, valved, tested, and installed according to applicable requirements.

If a kitchen renovation changes the location or demand of a gas appliance, the existing gas piping may need to be evaluated before installation.

Kitchen Plumbing Leaks

Kitchen leaks are not always obvious.

Water may collect underneath a cabinet, behind an appliance, beneath flooring, or around a sink before the homeowner realizes there is a problem.

Possible warning signs include cabinet swelling, staining, unusual odors, damp flooring, visible corrosion, dripping connections, or unexpected water usage.

The source should be identified before repairing the resulting damage.

Water Pressure and Kitchen Plumbing

Excessive water pressure can accelerate wear on kitchen faucets, supply lines, appliance valves, filtration systems, and other components.

If multiple fixtures throughout the property experience unusually high flow or recurring plumbing failures, the building’s water pressure should be evaluated.

A properly functioning pressure-reducing valve can help maintain appropriate operating pressure and protect plumbing components throughout the home.

Kitchen Plumbing for Remodels

Kitchen remodeling frequently requires plumbing changes that extend beyond the visible fixtures.

Moving a sink, changing appliance locations, adding an island sink, installing filtration equipment, or changing a gas appliance may require modification of water piping, drainage, venting, valves, or gas piping.

Planning these changes before cabinets and finished surfaces are installed can help prevent costly corrections later in the project.

We can evaluate the existing plumbing and determine what modifications may be necessary for the proposed kitchen layout.

Customer-Supplied Kitchen Fixtures and Equipment

We can install many customer-supplied kitchen fixtures and appliances when they are appropriate for the existing plumbing and installation conditions.

Because we do not control the quality, condition, compatibility, or source of customer-supplied equipment, customer-provided parts and fixtures are generally not covered by our parts warranty.

Customers who want additional warranty protection may prefer fixtures and equipment supplied directly through Steven Bailey Plumbing & Rooter.

Repair or Replace?

Not every kitchen plumbing problem requires replacement.

A faucet with a serviceable cartridge may be worth repairing. A disposal with a simple jam may only require service. A leaking connection may need nothing more than a proper repair.

However, older equipment with corrosion, unavailable parts, repeated failures, internal leakage, or significant wear may be better replaced.

We consider the condition of the equipment, repairability, parts availability, labor involved, and expected remaining service life when discussing available options.

Why Professional Kitchen Plumbing Matters

Kitchen plumbing is often installed inside expensive cabinetry and around finished flooring, countertops, appliances, and electrical equipment.

A poorly made connection can leak slowly for months before the damage becomes visible. Improper drainage can cause recurring stoppages. Incorrect appliance hookups can create leaks, odors, or poor performance.

Professional installation helps ensure kitchen fixtures and appliances are properly connected, tested, and integrated with the home’s plumbing system.
